Three Phases Through This Life in Print Three Phases Through This Life in Print

Experience in three varied disciplines of print gives me the ability to speak to all kinds of people about printing in ways that make them feel comfortable. Thank goodness for the different phases of printing I have been involved in. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to translate technical facts to the inexperienced print customer or customer needs to the technician.

Phase 1 - Writing Phase 1 - Writing

Inspired by my family of writers (grandfather Jonas Mašiotas and great-grandfather Pranas Mašiotas), I leaped into writing, diving into poetry writing for my elementary school newspaper (McKay Torch) and a chess column for my high school newspaper (The Engager).

Choosing to become a Mass Communications Specialist, (when joining the U.S. Navy) was a natural next step. For the USS Conyngham (DDG-17), I told the families about their sailors' lives through newsletters and the public about crew accomplishments through press releases.

Phase 2 - Print Production Phase 2 - Print Production

After the military, week in and week out, I saw my work in print, this time, from my production work.

Starting with neighborhood newspapers, increasingly more prominent publications around Chicago were assembled by me, in their composition departments: Southwest News-Herald, Wednesday Journal, The Chicago Runner, Chicago Parent and Chicago Tribune.

Phase 3 - Print Customer Service & Sales Support Phase 3 - Print Customer Service & Sales Support

Building on my composition background, I evolved into the hub among print clients, sales representatives, inside and outside vendors for the integrated marketing company Source4, the independent print distributor Printing R Us, the independent direct mail marketing firm Ardent Communications and the web offset printing company Segerdahl.

Now Now

My aim is to apply my most recent skills at inside sales and service of offset printing, mail fulfillment and promotional goods / advertising specialties. Also, to draw from my very varied background, from print production to public speaking, to print, radio and television journalism, so that I can better team up with and succeed with clients, co-workers, and other vendors.

Pronouncing My Name: Vito "Vitkauskas"

The pronunciation of Vitkauskas seems simple and phonetic to another Lithuanian.

    Still, others want hints.

"Vitt-kows-kuss" seems close, but not very memorable.

Elsie says, trying to pronounce the surname "with cow's kiss" makes it a more "moo"-ving, memorable muttering.
